Easterseals South Florida provides services to 488 children in six Head Start centers (480 Head Start slots and 8 Early Head Start slots). The staff at Easterseals continues to provide comprehensive early childhood care, case management and education services for pregnant women, infants, toddlers and pre-school age children. Sites in Miami and Miami Gardens include: Caleb Center, Jackson Dade, Culmer, Liberty Square, North County, and Ophelia E. Brown-Lawson. The Easterseals mission to provide exceptional services so that children and adults with special needs can live, learn, work and play in our community aligns well with Head Start. Head Start is not "new" to Easterseals. Easterseals affilitates in 11 other markets nationwide provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start programs at 50 different program sites. Easterseals South Florida has been providing high quality, culturally competent early childhood education in Miami for more than 70 years. Easterseals experience in autism, disabilities services, and behavior management will provide added value and innovation to the traditional Head Start service model.
