Head Start is a Federally funded child development program that provides free social and educational opportunities for income eligible children from ages 0-5, including children with special needs and pregnant women. The program is designed to prepare eligible children with essential skills needed to enter the public school system. Head Start is FREE to eligible participants. All children that are enrolled in Head Start centers receive breakfast and lunch and afternoon snacks. Meal service is included at Early/Head Start because of the comprehensive approach of services and recognition that good nutrition is an important part of helping children to be successful learners.
