Lake Cumberland Head Start is a comprehensive child development program that serves income-eligible 3- & 4-year-old children and their families.There are nineteen (19) centers and forty-one (41) classrooms. Lake Cumberland Head Start also operates a Home Base Program in five (5) counties. Children attend school Monday through Thursday from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Head Start follows the local county school calendar and does not have classes during inclement weather. Head Start welcomes children with disabilities; eighteen percent (18%) to twenty-two (22%) of total enrollment are children with disabilities. Members of the Head Start faculty hold degrees in Early Childhood Education.
