Its mission is simple: to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for expectant women, to enhance the development of very young children, and to promote healthy family functioning. Early Head Start, launched in 1995, provides support to low-income expectant moms, infants, toddlers and their families. EHS programs enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; assist expectant families with accessing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care; support parents' efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and help parents move toward self-sufficiency. Together Head Start and Early Head Start have served tens of millions of children and their families. The LCCAA Early Head Start Program serves 32 participants in Clinton and Casey counties with a full-year, full-day center-based program. The program provides comprehensive, holistic, and inclusive services including medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, and education. The program has an intensive approach to engaging parents to ensure the child is nurtured, supported, enriched, and challenged to develop to their fullest potential. |

Jones Park Early Childhood Center - Lake Cumberland Community Services Organization, Inc Location: Liberty, KY - 42539 Contact Phone: (606) 787-1249 Details: Established in 1965, Head Start promotes school readiness for children, ages three to five, in low-income families by offering educational, nutritional, health, social and other services. Head Start programs promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. Programs actively engage parents in their children's learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals. Significant emphasis is placed on the involvement of parents in the administration of local Head Start programs. Lake Cumberland Head Start operates a Full-Day Program funded by an annual grant from the Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children & Families. Lake Cumberland Head Start is a comprehensive child development program that serves income-eligible 3- & 4-year-old children and their families.There are nineteen (19) centers and forty-one (41) classrooms. Lake Cumberland Head Start also operates a Home Base Program in five (5) counties. Children attend school Monday through Thursday from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Head Start follows the local county school calendar and does not have classes during inclement weather. Transportation is available, but limited to certain areas. For more transportation information, contact the center nearest you. Head Start welcomes children with disabilities; eighteen percent (18%) to twenty-two (22%) of total enrollment are children with disabilities. Members of the Head Start faculty hold degrees in Early Childhood Education. The daily curriculum supports and enriches the child’s developmental growth physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. The Head Start curriculum focuses not only on developing social skills, but on academics as well. Head Start incorporates all areas of a child’s development into fun learning activities. Head Start staff is dedicated to enriching the lives of all students as we work toward kindergarten readiness.
