Preschool Details: The Early Head Start program serves lower income infants, toddlers and their families. The program is center-based, and provides early childhood care and development, as well as family support services on a year-round basis. Our EHS staff and caregivers have specialized training in infant/toddler development, with the skills and experience to provide an individualized program to meet each child’s health, education and nutritional needs. There are soft places for babies to sit or lie down, and comfortable, private spaces for mothers to breastfeed their baby. Mobile infants have lots of space to crawl and pull up on. Toddlers have ample space to walk, run and climb. Classroom materials are developmentally appropriate and foster healthy social, emotional, cognitive and language development in a safe, warm, caring environment. The EHS program is seamlessly aligned with our existing Head Start program in order to deliver a unified birth-to school continuum of high quality, comprehensive early childhood education to every child, in parallel with an equally comprehensive family development program that builds a solid foundation for successful transition to Kindergarten and lifelong learning. The schedule ranges from school-day (8:30am to 3:30pm) to full-day (7:30am to 6:00pm) in order to accommodate the varied needs of families. The Early Head Start Program provides comprehensive child development services including education, health, nutrition, mental health, disability services, and social services including family and community partnerships.
