Preschool Details: The Calvert County Public Schools Head Start Program mission is to provide a quality program with an integrated system of comprehensive, multidisciplinary services to participating families and eligible children ages three to five. Head Start recognizes parents/caregivers as the child’s primary educator, nurturer and advocate, promoting school readiness and strengthening the capacity of parents/caregivers to become involved in program decision making and participating as volunteers. Head Start encourages self-sufficiency, growth, and development supported through family and community partnerships.
Age Requirements: 3 to 5 years old
How to Apply: In order for us to determine your eligibility, we need to receive the following information in the HEAD Start Office: Application - (Completed and signed); Proof of child’s age (birth certificate); Proof of current income of Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of child: Submit 4 current pay stubs; 1040 tax form (1st two pages); public assistance letter; Social Security Income; unemployment verification; or verification of your wages signed by your employer. If there is a change of address, telephone number or child care, call the Head Start Office immediately at (410) 535-1013. Change of address or child care may affect your child’s placement. If your child has a disability: Submit the child’s current IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or recent information regarding special needs. These documents must be submitted to us before your application can be processed. Please submit COPIES only. The information given is for the receipt of federal, state, and county funds; therefore school officials may verify the information on the application. Falsification of any information submitted may be cause for rejection of this application or removal from the program after placement. If your child is accepted, you will be required to submit a health package and provide proof of residency for your child to be considered for enrollment into Head Start.
