Preschool Details: Head Start is a federally-funded community-based program for low-income families with preschool-age children (ages 3 to 5). Head Start is focused on making sure children are school-ready by engaging them in activities that promote social-emotional, physical, cognitive and educational development. In addition, Head Start offers family case management, disability services and support, connection to mental health services for children and families, and health screenings for children. Your child will receive a healthy meal and/or snack during the day. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. Head Start emphasizes your role in your child’s life, and our staff work with you and your child together, offering programs that support: Family wellbeing and positive parent-child relationships; Families as learners and lifelong educators; Family engagement in transitions; Family connections to peers and community; Families as advocates and leaders
Eligible Requirements: Head Start and Early Head Start offer free services to families living in the towns where our programs operate in York County. Families who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or other benefits, may be eligible. Head Start is for children ages 3 to 5 years. Early Head Start is available for pregnant women, and children from birth to age 3 years.
Age Requirements: 3 to 5 years old

Eligible parents/guardians will be called to complete a full application; completing a referral does not mean the child/family is on the waitlist.
