Preschool Details: Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families. Head Start provides preschool children with early learning experiences that are aimed at meeting their developmental, social, and physical needs prior to entering elementary school, and since the 2007 Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act, there is an emphasis placed on school readiness. Children and their families participate in programming and activities that are geared toward ensuring that children enter kindergarten prepared for academic success.
