Preschool Details: Quality Pre-K experiences have proven to reduce the rate of children being held back a grade, and increase their chances of graduating high school. Nicholas Community Action’s school readiness program provides comprehensive learning for Nicholas County children 3 and 4 years old; years critical to cognitive, social, and emotional development. Nicholas County Head Start programs provide a learning environment that supports development in the following disciplines: Language and Literacy; Cognition & General Knowledge; Physical Development and Health; Social and Emotional Development. Nicholas County Head Start emphasizes the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher. The Head Start programs build relationships with families through family engagement framework: Family well-being and positive parent-child Relationships; Families as learners and lifelong educators; Family Engagement; Family connections to peers and community; Families as advocates and leaders
Eligible Requirements: Eligibility requirements involve family income level, special needs, location, age and other family circumstances. Regardless of these aforementioned criteria, all applications are considered.
Age Requirements: 3-4 years old
How to Apply: In order to enroll your child, please print and complete the application, and submit along with the following list of documents. You may submit your application by visiting in person, our office is located at 1205 Broad Street, Summersville, WV. (Behind Dairy Queen). Proof of Family Income (1 month of pay stubs, 1040 tax return, w-2’s); Proof of Residency; Child’s Birth Certificate; Child’s Immunization Record; Child’s Health Insurance / Medical Card; Child’s Social Security Card; Application
