Preschool Details: LULAC Head Start Inc. goes beyond the stereotype of a babysitting center or the well-known pre-school facade...LULAC Early Childhood Education is a place to develop the entire family from its core of parents, grandparents and community. The importance of early childhood education is pivotal in this day in age. If we want to assure a bright and successful future for our children, their families, and our community, we must begin early. LULAC of New Haven is a Community Supporter. We use an Intergenerational Approach, alongside Grandparent Volunteers through Family Involvement to achieve Developmental, Academic and Family Success.
Eligible Requirements: Eligibility for Head Start and Early Head Start is based on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Poverty Guidelines. Children in foster care, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or Supplemental Security Income) are categorically eligible for Head Start and Early Head Start services regardless of income. LULAC Head Start programs may enroll up to 10 percent of children from families that have incomes above the Poverty Guidelines. Programs may also serve up to an additional 35 percent of children from families whose incomes are above the Poverty Guidelines, but below 130 percent of the poverty line if the program can ensure that certain conditions have been met.
Age Requirements: Birth to 3 years old
How to Apply: Completed Application; Birth Certificate (long form); Child’s Social Security Card; Proof of Income (submit only what is applicable) - TANF (DSS) Budget Letter, 4 weekly consecutive pay stubs, 2 bi-weekly consecutive, Last Year’s W-2 or 1040 Form, Employer’s letter on company letterhead stating hourly wage and hour worked per week, Current payroll history for the last 4 weeks; Proof of Address (CURRENT grounded utility bill, rental lease); Physical Exam (Yellow Form); Immunizations; Dental Exam; Health Insurance Card; Proof of Custody (if applicable); Employer’s letter on company letterhead stating work schedule, school or training (for full day/full year services); WIC and Food Stamp numbers (if applicable)
