Kermit Pre K Head Start

Preschool Details: Coalfield CAP’s Head Start program is funded to serve 500+ children in a center-based setting. Classes are available at sites throughout McDowell and Mingo counties that serve as feeder sites for all elementary schools in both counties. All classrooms throughout both counties are collaborative classrooms, jointly operated and funded by the Office of Head Start and McDowell and Mingo County schools. While some classrooms are located in elementary schools and others in sites owned or leased by Coalfield CAP, all early childhood classrooms utilize a common curriculum, assessment tools and comparable equipment and supplies. Due to the collaborative nature of the classrooms, they all operate under the title of “Universal Pre-K”.
