Preschool Details: Early Head Start recognizes the importance of being involved with families as early as possible to help children later succeed in school and life. Early Head Start provides early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to pregnant women and families with children birth to age three. This full year program offers services in selected Head Start services areas. Included are parenting education, health services, early childhood development, group activities with other parents, and support and referral services. Individualized services are provided through home visiting. Children who are enrolled in the Early Head Start program are given priority for the Head Start preschool program upon achieving age eligibility. Head Start is an early childhood development school readiness, and family support program for children from birth to school age, their families, and pregnant women in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. We promote family self-sufficiency, foster healthy outcomes, and enhance the quality of life for children and families through education and partnerships with school districts and the community.
