Preschool Details: Early Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood development program designed to meet the needs of pregnant women and children from birth to age three. Center based and home based services are available. Center based services operate in Oakland at the Dennett Road Early Learning Center and the Overlook Child Development Center, in Grantsville at the Grantsville Early Learning Center (GV Elementary School) and in Friendsville through a partnership with Sunny Days Child Care (FV Elementary School). Specialized programs are available in some areas for families needing childcare before and after the traditional 8 am to 3 pm center day. Head Start provides a positive learning environment and developmentally appropriate experiences to children 3 to 5 years of age at five locations throughout Garrett County. The goal of Head Start is to provide services to families and children that ensure children enter Kindergarten fully ready to learn. Health, Nutrition, and Parent and Family Support services are available to all parents/guardians through small and large group and 1-on-1 coaching experiences
