Preschool Details: Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families with infants and toddlers and expectant women. Its mission is simple: to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for expectant women, to enhance the development of very young children, and to promote healthy family functioning. Early Head Start, launched in 1995, provides support to low-income expectant moms, infants, toddlers and their families. EHS programs enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; assist expectant families with accessing comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care; support parents' efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and help parents move toward self-sufficiency. Together Head Start and Early Head Start have served tens of millions of children and their families. The LCCAA Early Head Start Program serves 32 participants in Clinton and Casey counties with a full-year, full-day center-based program. The program provides comprehensive, holistic, and inclusive services including medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, and education. The program has an intensive approach to engaging parents to ensure the child is nurtured, supported, enriched, and challenged to develop to their fullest potential.
