Preschool Details: Stamford Head Start is a child development program that is part of Childcare Learning Centers. Head Start is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and provides free comprehensive services to preschool children whose parent(s) meet the federal income guidelines. What can the Head Start Program offer your Child? - Activities that help children grow mentally, socially, emotionally and physically; Developmental screenings; Continuum assessment three times a year using the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment tool; Health screenings within the first 45 days of attendance; Dental screening within the first 90 days of attendance; Nutrition services providing healthy meals and advice; Services to preschool children with disabilities and/or special needs. Parents and children will benefit from: Activities for parents working as partners in their child’s education and development; Social services support: Community referrals for programs such as job training, food and nutrition, English language and health services; Opportunities to become self-sufficient; Parent support groups; Leadership training as members of the Policy Council and the CLC governing board; Collaborative partnership with community providers to meet the needs of the families. Stamford Head Start operates half-day and full-day programs. There is no charge for the half-day program. A sliding scale fee is charged for the full-day program that is partially funded by the State Department of Education.
Eligible Requirements: Who is eligible? Preschool children 3 and 4 years old whose parent(s) meet the federal income guidelines; Preschool children 3 and 4 years old with disabilities and/or special need whose parents meet the federal income guidelines; Stamford Head Start promotes inclusion, so we must serve a minimum of 10% of children with disabilities.
Age Requirements: 3 to 5 years old
