Preschool Details: Monroe County Public School's Head Start program is a federal grant program under the Monroe County School District. The district encompasses over 100 miles of island with 4 sites from Key Largo to Key West. Head Start offers free preschool for income eligible children and a percentage of children with disabilities to prepare them for Kindergarten and school success. Children who attend Head Start participate in school-readiness curriculum that includes literacy, language, science, mathematics, and social-emotional development. They also receive medical and dental services, have healthy meals and enjoy playing safely indoors and outdoors. In addition to the educational services, family involvement is at the core of our success. Parents/Guardians are provided with the unique opportunity in Head Start to participate in the program and planning decision-making process. Each parent/guardian who has a child enrolled in the Head Start program is automatically a member of the parent committee group at the respective center. Parent/Guardians are also elected by their peers to serve on policy council.
Age Requirements: 3 to 5 years old
